“The game is afoot!”

Nothing happens.

“This phrase has got to be good for something,” I say. “It’s Shakespeare plus Sherlock Holmes.”

–Penelope Bunce, Carry On

Carry On is Rainbow Rowell’s Harry Potter inspired, fan-fictionish novel, where the “Chosen One” is named Simon Snow and magic spells consist of existing, if not everyday, phrases. I particularly love the latter fact, and Penelope Bunce (the Hermione equivalent of the story) is a great character. Props for her attempting to come up with a new spell, and props for her trying a Shakespeare + Sherlock quote.
